The Future - Recommendations

The following are priorities, in order of merit, for the garden.  The proposals recognise the limited resources of the Trust, however further developments may be appropriate as the project proceeds.

  • Continue restoration of walled garden.
  • Develop a section of Walled Garden as orchard of heritage apples.
  • Develop ‘visitor room’ to interpret gardens/James Day.
  • Provide toilet (perhaps within existing structure).
  • Provide detailed information in the form of souvenir leaflet/booklet.
  • Approach similar attractions to develop co-ordinated promotion.
  • Retain ambience of woodland garden/reinforce planting.
  • Provide discrete information on plants and garden on site.
  • Create new car park adjacent to Walled Garden.
  • Sensitive improvements at the beach arrival point/picnic area.
  • Research possible plant/fruit/jam sales in ‘visitor room’.
